Bahrain’s 5G Gaming Ascendancy

5G expansion is fueling digital innovation

The Kingdom of Bahrain is demonstrating that it knows the power of connectivity with its continued drive to expand 5G network coverage. As a result, it’s paving a smooth path for gamers and gaming-related technology companies.

Bahrain’s 5G Gaming Ascendancy

Bahrain Leads in the GCC and Middle East

  • Bahrain has 100% 5G coverage for commercial networks.
  • The focus on connectivity is part of the Economic Vision 2030, which aims to make the country a ‘Smart Kingdom’.
  • The 5G capabilities have boosted Bahrain’s gaming performance, giving it a score of 87.64 out of 100.

5G Gaming Performance

The country’s focus on 5G connectivity is having positive effects when it comes to gaming performance. That’s great news for those who play online, as they can expect smooth experiences. More than that, the improved infrastructure means that the country is an excellent place to benefit from the latest gaming innovations.

The ultra-fast internet speeds, combined with other conditions in the country, make it attractive to gaming companies. Nationwide coverage and reliable 5G services are at the heart of that.  As entrepreneurs and companies develop and come to the region, it’s putting Bahrain in the right position to become an important gaming hub.

What It Takes to Get a High Score

A Game Score reflects a country’s key metrics. The statistic is calculated by Ookla, which creates a unique rating using its Speedtest Intelligence data based on a variety of measurements. The overall gaming experience is quantified using download speeds, upload speeds, jitter and latency.

With a score of 87.64 out of 100, Bahrain has the highest 5G Gaming Score in the Middle East. The 5G network in the country means that players can expect speeds of up to 413.69 Mbps. That comes alongside a low latency of 72 ms. The cellular infrastructure, in particular, is recognised as a crucial element for mobile gaming growth.

How Bahrain Became a Leader

Bahrain is narrowly ahead of the UAE and Qatar, which received scores of 85.59 and 85.23, respectively. Countries like Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia received even lower scores. The country’s leading role is not surprising, though, as it has already achieved several targets in its focused action plan to become a ‘Smart Kingdom’.

The country is ranked third globally in terms of the estimated internet users, which is 99% of the total population. Plus, following the 100% national coverage of commercial 5G networks, the plans to expand the network are proceeding. It should soon cover residential, commercial, hospitality and industrial zones, including consumers and businesses in the digital transformation.

Benefits of 5G Coverage

Technological advances are shaping the future of Bahrain, and enhanced 5G coverage is playing a central role. It facilitates many other changes by providing the speed, stability and reliability required for innovation and ambitious projects.

For gamers and businesses, the timing couldn’t be better. The gaming market is predicted to grow to over $53 million by 2027. That’s a considerable increase from $38 million in 2023. Enhanced speeds are just part of the growing gaming ecosystem.

A younger, tech-savvy population is playing a role in increased interest. Crucially, policies welcoming gaming and encouraging technology-driven sectors, including gaming companies, are also creating the right environment for growth. The infrastructure is clearly the backbone that makes any kind of innovation possible.
